Most of the mashups that I post tend to feature a hip hop slant, so I thought I would throw a bone to those who prefer something a little harder. Here is an early front runner for my favorite songs of 2008. I was searching around for a copy of Maroon 5’s “Wake Up Call” and was delighted to find a remix done by my man Mark Ronson. He has mixed the original with additional vocals from Mary J. Blige, some rhymes courtesy of Wale, and a little Motown in the back, and created a gem. So, with that, enjoy Mark Ronson’s version of “Wake Up Call”.

While reviewing the many “top songs of 2007″ lists over the past few weeks, I couldn’t help but notice that the song “Lip Gloss” by Lil Mama kept appearing in the top 20 or so. Honestly, not a great song, and all I can see is high school cheerleaders doing a half time show to it, but I realized that I had the song in my mashup playlist. I’ve included the original for reference, but I think the mash is better when you pair her up with The Champs‘ “Tequila”. So strap on your big shoes and get ready to dance!!
